Sandro Tonal charged with another set of betting offenses

Newcastle United new signing and midfielder Sandro Tonali has been slammed by the English FA with another 50 betting offenses that were carried out earlier this season, Fabrizio Romano reports.

Romano revealed this in a post on his X page.

These betting offenses, according to the FA, occurred between August 12 and October 12, 2023, placing it at the beginning of the current season, when he was already playing for Premier League club Newcastle.

Recall that Tonali is currently serving a 10-month football ban for betting offenses he committed while playing for Italian Serie A club AC Milan, so these charges are rather damning.

This means, if found guilty, Tonali’s ban will likely be extended, meaning that Newcastle may well have to dip into the transfer market to replace him, as he’s already expected to miss the whole of the current season
